About Zoe
Zoe writes about pictures for a living. Her work is the text that helps people find and choose an image — descriptions and captions, collection and category intros, page titles, alt text and image metadata — mostly for profile picture, wallpaper and themed gallery websites.
Before she moved into image-led sites she wrote short-form content for online publishers, which is where she learned to say something useful in very few words. She holds a bachelor’s degree in digital media and visual communication, with study in digital publishing, creative media and how audiences behave online.
On Daily PFPs she decides what goes into each drop. A square only makes it if it survives a circle crop, still reads at the small size apps really use, and is something a person would actually want as their avatar.
How she works
Zoe starts with the words people really type — “matching pfp for couples”, “dark aesthetic anime pfp” — and builds each collection around that intent, rather than around a keyword list. Her test for any line of copy is simple: would it still be worth keeping for the visitor if search engines disappeared tomorrow? If not, it gets cut.
She also goes back to older collections to refresh them, so the archive stays as useful as the newest drop.
Picks every drop
She chooses which squares make it into each day’s set, and which ones do not — most do not.
Tests at avatar size
Every square is checked in a circle crop and at around 128 pixels, the size most apps actually show.
Writes the notes
Drop intros, image descriptions, alt text and captions, written for people first and search second.
Sorts the archive
Categories and vibe tags, so a “dark anime” or “matching” search finds what it promises.
